FROM THE PRIME BISHOP
On 17 February 2022, the Episcopal Church in the Philippines and the Iglesia Filipina Independiente will celebrate the silver (25th) anniversary of our Concordat which was signed on 17 February 1997. We shall celebrate the Holy Mass at St. Andrew’s Theological Seminary chapel at 6:30 am, which will serve as the launching of the silver anniversary observance to culminate on 30th November 2022, during the 90th founding anniversary of SATS. It is timely that the culmination of the Concordat silver anniversary celebration will also be done during the said 90th founding anniversary of SATS as the seminary remains to be among the most visible expression of our Concordat.
We are inviting our people and clergy to participate on-line in the service on the 17th. The day before, 16th February at 3 pm, we shall convene the Concordat Council to discuss issues of mutual concern and plan for future partnerships.
Last Monday, 31st January 2022, the Obispo Maximo of the IFI, The Most Rev. Rhee M. Timbang, together with Rev. Ramil M. Aguilar, visited the Prime Bishop and staff and we had a fruitful exploration of possible joint works and ministries ahead. It was also an opportunity for us to hand over to the Obispo Maximo a check for Php 250,000 representing the fraternal love and support of the people of the ECP towards the re-building of the Diocesan Cathedral of the IFI in Surigao City that was devastated by typhoon Odette. We will partner with the IFI for livelihood recovery projects in the typhoon-damaged communities.
