ABOUT THE MISSION

HISTORY
The IFI Community of Sucat Mission Chapel started in 1994 through the initiative of the Rev. Fr. Danilo Janagap, the first Mission priest. Without a permanent place of worship from the beginning, the IFI adherents, who came mostly from the Visayan Islands particularly Antique, Romblon, and Capiz Provinces, celebrated their Masses in makeshifts: under the Talisay tree, in a bodega of soft drinks, until the barangay community composed mostly of IFI members was able to build a chapel as a place of worship. Not long enough to enjoy it, they vacated the chapel because the Roman Catholic members started to assert their rights to the chapel. To avoid more confrontation, the group decided to leave the chapel to the Roman Catholics with their own priest performing the Mass.
Later they were able to procure a house, and with little renovation to look like a place of worship, they have now a permanent edifice they rightfully call their own. Until then, many improvements have taken place.
