THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRESENCE AND PARTICIPATION IN THE CULMINATION ACTIVITY OF THE SILVER ANNIVERSARY OF WOMEN ORDINATION IN THE IFI

Forty-eight (48) women clergy from twenty-three (23) dioceses of the IFI responded to the summon of the OM to come and gather together between Nov 21-23, 2022 at Vincentian Seminary for the Culminating Activity of the Silver Anniversary of Women Ordination in the Church. The IFI approved women ordination to the priesthood in 1996 and the first woman ordained to the priesthood was Revd Sally Rabaria of the IFI Diocese of Aklan and Capiz in Jan 1997. Since 1984, the IFI has already started ordaining women to the diaconate after it begun sending women since the early 1970’s to St Andrew’s Theological Seminary for studies and training. The first seminary graduate was Revd Perla Cajote belonging to Batch 1978.

The Silver Anniversary Celebration has featured two major gathering of women clergy: the Kick-Off Gathering in June 2022 in DCENT, Bulua, CDO and this week’s Culminating Activity. Earlier, the IFI held the Second Decade Celebration of Women Ordination in 2018 at the National Cathedral.
To date, there are around sixty-six (66) women clergy all over the Church and their ministry have immensely blessed the IFI.

At the Closing Worship the women clergy in attendance collectively declared their continuing commitment for faithful ministry, bold witness, and courageous service as the IFI persists in journeying with Christ.

MAY THE GOOD LORD EQUIP AND SUSTAIN YOU IN THE MINISTRY, FOR GOD AND COUNTRY
