JOHN 1:6-8, 19-28
December 13, 2020

John's role is to make straight the way to the one who comes as the Messiah, and he does this through his identity in the role given him by God, John is not identified as the forerunner of the Messiah, he is portrayed as the primary witness to Jesus.

John is the voice of hope that calls for preparation and repentance in order to make straight our own path to the Lord. The highest commendation of his God given role. And that John is faithful in bearing witness to the one whom God has sent.

Today we have a unique opportunity to identify the role that all persons of faith are called to by God. Each one of us who have heard the words have seen the importance of Johns witness to Jesus. Like John we are also commissioned to bear witness to the Messiah the one whom God has sent in flesh, who is with us and the one who will come again. Also we are called to be the voice to cry out in the wilderness. He was sent in the same way God sends us to every corner of this world with Good News, bear witness not to question, maligned and suspects why we are doing those things.. John represents what all Christians are called to be: witnesses to Christ, heralds of the Good News, and to fulfill the missions of Christ, but the questions is, do you see yourself as a witness and a herald?

Everyday we are  looking for so many ways to enlighten our life or even give meaning  into it,may it be in wealth, career, or work and so on. We are looking for something to satisfy our wants. And looking for the meaning of life we sometimes neglect our obligation as witnesses to Jesus ministry that somehow offers hope to our world of today. Timely our world needs that witnesses of hope, a hope that will give light to this broken world, but unfortunately like the priest and the Levites who fond of interrogating rather than witnessing some of us if not so many are alike.  So of today that even our solidarity with the masses, thanksgiving, praying and rejoicing and witnessing were questioned by interrogators and those in authority all of these they want answers, justifications and reasons. Today, John calls us to hear “the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, make straight the path of the Lord.” God calls each of us to be voices in the wilderness for others in their search for love, for meaning, for justice, for equality, for faith, for peace and for God. we are challenge to be the voice of the voiceless. As witnesses of hope we should speak the truth, we should illumined the light to others. The advent reminds us to prepare our life in anticipation of the coming of Christ by bearing witness, as witnesses of hope. Hope that assures us that there is life and light coming to us. Though the interrogators of the world make it difficult for us to hear that voice, as the witness of hope we should never be silenced instead speak up and be heard. But how as individual can we be able to share that light to others. Maybe one way to be a witnessing faithful of Christ is by recognizing Him in the least of our brothers and sisters, journey together, walk together, pray and work together for it is our moral duty to fulfill the mission of Chris to the world.
